User Friendly Plan of Salvation

Salvation is like an old fashioned train.
First is the fact of God's Word -- like the train engine.
Second is the coal car -- representing faith.
Third is the caboose - this represents the inner peace and joy the Lord gives to all who find peace with God.

Scriptural Plan

All Have Sinned - Romans 3:23 "For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God."

Penalty of Sin - Romans 6:23a "For the wages of sin is death..."
(This is not just physical death but also spiritual death and eternal separation from God)
See Revelations 21:8

Penalty paid by Jesus - Romans 5:8 "Even while we were yet sinners Christ died for us."
See also John 3:16, Acts 4:12, John 14:6

Gift of God not of works - Romans 6:23b "But, the gift of God is eternal life."
See also Ephesians 2:8-9

Invite Jesus to be your Savior - Revelation 3:20 "Behold I stand at the door and knock, if anyone will hear my voice and open the door, I will come in and fellowship with him and he with me."

Jesus stands at the door of our heart and it is up to us to open the door and invite Him in.

Three Conditions to invite Jesus into our heart and life:

  1. Confess our sins.   "If we confess our sins He (Jesus) is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness." I John 1:9
  2. Repent of sin.   "Repent then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord."
  3. Receive Jesus.   "To all who received him, to those who believe in his name, he gave the right to become children of God."

We receive Jesus by faith. Faith is taking God at His Word and acting accordingly. God said it, I believe it, that settles it. After receiving Christ as your Lord and Savior find someone to mentor you and hold you accountable to grow in the grace and the knowledge of Jesus Christ.
